Sorry for the delay here, folks. Crazy week, as you know. This week we're reading a fabulous Pushing Daisies AU, Never None the Wiser, by pyrimidine. Go and read it and then come back to chat! I'll put some questions below, and please add your own!

I watched Pushing Daisies when it was on TV aaaages ago. I found it very bittersweet to see the concept applied to A/E because I love them so much and I just want them to be happy. I would have liked to see more of them trying to negotiate their relationship where they can't touch.

This is a nebulous fic for me. I know of Pushing Daisies, and saw like half an episode here and there. Enough to know the premise but not to know the proper workings of the show.

So I get just enough to know what Arthur and Eames are to each other, and what happened between them, but not the circumstances around those events. I'm also not sure of Yusuf or Cobb's positions in relation to the show. In a way that detracts from my enjoying the fic as I'm not sure which dots I should be connecting. That happens with crossovers.

Mind, all it's reminding me to do is find Pushing Daisies and watch it because I know it's something that I would enjoy.

Firstly, I'm SO glad to have been introduced to this fic. It's so lovely and funny, and I love the gentleness between them here. The overall feeling I get from it is warm and fuzzy with slightly more than a tinge of sadness.

As for the touch aspect, I like that they somewhat find a way around this obstacle, as they do with most problems they encounter. Eames toeing the line with this rule feels very Eames to me - it keeps with the idea that Eames can be reckless with himself, especially when it comes to Arthur. And Arthur's hesitance, which seems to stem both from his concern for Eames as well as his self-perceived selfishness to have brought Eames back, feels so very Arthurian.

I agree, that is one aspect to the show that I knew coming into this fic and it's completely in Eames' character to toe the line, to get as close as possible to being 100% no take backs dead all with reckless abandon.

But knowing Eames this is calculated touch as well. Eames in fic tends to be the more tactile of the two so the lack of touch is probably driving him a bit crazy and he'll take any form of it to satisfy his need.

I agree about Arthur as well. He would be hesitant out of concern and out of self-perceived selfishness.

I agree 100% with Pry's comments here. I see touch as so important to their relationship, and Eames would absolutely be pushing that boundary constantly, and Arthur would be so afraid of that, and of losing Eames. The whole Pushing Daisies love story just makes me so sad, because it's just this terrible tenuous space, where you can't ever be fully with the person you love, you're constantly at risk of losing them, but the seduction of having them for longer, just getting to have that time, even if it's not as good as it could be. It almost reminds me of when a TV show hangs on for a season or two so long. Like, it's terrible when a TV show gets cancelled too early, but it's also sort of terrible when it hangs on for so long instead of just ending when it should, because everyone can't let go of the characters. And you keep watching because you love them and you want to see more of them, even when it's just like "really, what are you even doing?"

I generally enjoy seeing things from multiple POVs. I like having an idea of how different people interpret the same situations. I'm also kind of a sucker for the outside POV of a relationship.
